What’s the history?

The Boys’ Brigade is the oldest uniformed youth organisation in the world. The BB, whose motto is “sure and steadfast”, was founded in 1883 in Glasgow by Sir William Smith to promote the physical, spiritual, social and mental growth of boys in a Christian environment. The Junior Award Scheme is part of the programme for Junior Section boys which aims provide the boys with some recognition for their participation. The scheme uses material under the five headings: body, mind, spirit, community and creativity.

 Is it very religious?

We are run by Christians but we don’t force anyone to believe what we do.

Can I visit to see if I like it?

Please do – we are a friendly bunch!
